Jackson and Grand Teton NP

We next moved on to one of my favorite campgrounds - Gros Ventre in Grand Teton NP. It used to be that moose wandered through the campground every morning; however, I didn't see any this time.

But there were plenty of these little buggers there to welcome us.

I ran out right away to see if I could find any wildlife. I stopped at one overlook, and WOW - a mama moose and 2 babies. You can't see them here, but, after I zoom in -

There's Mom and one of the babies. The other kid was a little shy.

The first night we went to the Bar J Chuckwagon Supper and Western Show. My sister had seen the show many years ago, and always wanted to go back. I was a little nervous with the greeter at the door.

But the Bar J Wranglers were just great!

My favorite (always) is Dueling Banjos.

The next day we did my favorite hike to Taggart Lake. I love the fact that a lot of it is in the open, and it seems like you are walking right up to the mountains.

No moose, but we did see some young bucks.

The flowers were beautiful too!

At one point, you cross over the stream gushing out of the lake.

And here it is - Taggart Lake!

Near our campground is a big attraction to photographers - Moulton Barn on Mormon Row. I had seen the barn several times before, but I never realized that there were actually two Moulton Barns.

Here's Number Two! I think I like it even better than the other one!

  1. Gros Ventre is one of our favorite campgrounds, too. Last time we were there in Sept 2014 we had moose in the campground every morning. Sadly on the day we left one had to be put down after she fell and broke her leg on a fire ring as she tried to run away from people trying to take photos too close. Sad.
