Bar Harbor and Acadia NP

We started out touring Acadia NP by taking the 27-mile Loop Road around the Eastern side of the park.

I just love the rocks along the shore and took about a million pictures.

We stopped at Thunder Hole, which we saw from the boat yesterday. The waves go into a cave under the rocks and can produce some spectacular ocean spray, along with a noise that sounds like thunder.

This is what I was hoping for.

But this is what I got. Oh, well - it was still pretty cool.

We stopped at Jordan Pond, a fresh water lake, with a view of The Bubbles, those 2 hills in the background.

And then we drove up to the top of Cadillac Mountain, the highest point in the park. A great view of all the surrounding islands and the harbor.

We saw some wedding photos being taken of the bride, groom, and Best Dog.

We could see Baker Island, where we went yesterday, off in the distance.

The next day we walked around the cute little town of Bar Harbor.

I got a little hungry and figured this guy wouldn't notice if I stole a little ice cream.

Great words of wisdom!

  1. Thunder Hole is hard to catch. I think you have to be there at high tide. Great pictures of one of my very favorite National parks. Thanks so much for your comment on my post about my eyes. It was really encouraging to me since I'm pretty disappointed at this point.
