I mentioned before that I've moved into an RV park in Mesa for a month or so. This is kind of a new experience for me, but I have to say I'm enjoying it.
I have a nice spot that has some late afternoon shade.
There's lots to do in the area, and the park, while not fancy, does have a nice pool and hot tub.
There are oleander bushes and cactus behind the rig. This is the view out the bathroom window in back.
And I've put out a hummingbird feeder on my picture window. This is a female Anna's hummingbird, I think. The males are too quick to get a picture of.
Other birds are interested in the feeder, but these House Finches with their fat beaks are just dreaming. (I should really clean that window...)
The contortionist Gila Woodpecker can actually get a drink -
Although she looks pretty contrite about it.
One day I discovered what was on the other side of the wall behind me. Rusty stuff!!!
On Wednesday, we went back again to Superstition Skies to see Brant and Kerry. With Phil and I were my sister, Barbara, "brother-in-law" Ron (taking the picture), WIN friend Joanne, and fellow blogger, Yair, of Our Take on Freedom. His blog is one of my favorites, because they must be the most outgoing couple on the road. They really get to know everyone they meet.
Yair and his wife Ayo are fulltime RVers in their 20s. (Unfortunately, she was out of town.) We had a great time listening to his stories and teasing him about his age, because he didn't know any of the songs that Brant and Kerry played.
I really wish we could have been there with you guys. But we needed to get on the road while the wind was cooperating. I love your bird pictures. They are fabulous. I'll be real curious to see how you survive the summer heat because there may come a day when we do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteEven though I was already on a vacation, when I stayed at a campground or RV park, it felt like a double dose of vacation!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictues of the woodpecker!
Think of all the money you'll save on gas while you sit still for a while, about time you gave your trailer's tires a chance to cool off.
ReplyDeleteFunny pictures of the birds on the Hummingbird feeder, you always find the most interesting things to photograph!
Simply delightful rust and all. :)
ReplyDeleteNice to see your trying the other side of RV life. Hookups are like a breath of fresh air sometimes. I enjoy the long hot showers without fear of using too much water.
ReplyDeleteI am counting the saving you're going to have... OK the pool is a sold deal - I am so ready to swim!! Love your pictures today - the birds awwww...

ReplyDeleteAs great as it is to be able to travel at will, it would be nice to settle down in one place for a bit ... that's our plan for full timing.
ReplyDeleteThis a good chance to enjoy all those RV park extras, like pool, electric, sewer. Who knows, you may get hooked on it :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your pictures and your writing. I'm a year or more away from full timing. Encourages me to read such nice blogs...

Park parked or boon docked you always have inspiring views. Like that Gila Woodpecker.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is just refreshing to sit in one place for a while. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove the woodpecker shots.
ReplyDeleteI plan to stay in one place for a while when I'm on the road. Of course, I keep changing my mind as things go along, but that's what the plan is for now.
You've been to so many great places and seen so much, maybe staying put for a bit will be nice. It will be interesting to see how that works for you. :)
Diane:
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about fulltiming for a year and am looking for perspectives from a single woman on the road. Looks like you have been out there awhile. Would you be willing to share your e-mail address with me to answer questions as I move through this process? I am a 53 year old woman, looking for a lifestyle change.
Thanks,
Jayne
Jayne, my email address is dianatolerico(at)yahoo.com

Thanks Diane, I just sent an e-mail off to you. I appreciate your time and am very interested in hearing about your "life on the road".
