Day 6 on the Galapagos

On our last full day on the ship, we woke up to see buildings! We were at the town of Puerto Villamil, on the southern tip of the island of Isabela.

We started off with a walk around the islet of Tintoreras.

We saw more Marine Iguanas, which are th eonly sea-going lizards in the world.

This is the first Great Egret that we saw.

And a Great Blue Heron.

We're here to look for sharks in this canal. They rest here during the day, but unfortunately we didn't see any...

Then we got back in the little boats to go to town. This boat had netting all around it to prevent the Sea Lions from getting on, but this one managed to anyway.

We had to walk on a boardwalk from the dock, and it was a little tricky...

Uh oh - a mom nursing a baby. This was really tricky, but we managed to get by going very slowly.

Then we had some free time on the beach. Jonathan decided to take a nap.

We went back to the ship for lunch, then went on an excursion to the Arnaldo Tupiza Tortoise Breeding Center. Tortoises are raised here, then released into the wild.

Then we went back to town, where we had some time to walk around. We checked out the Catholic church there.

I always like to look at the Stations of the Cross. They are always unique.

But the most unique thing was the stained glass window of a Blue Footed Booby.

We also went by the statue of Charles Darwin.

Then back to the ship. Since this was our last night on board, the crew dressed up like pirates, and we had a little party. It was a great cruise!
