A Rainbow That Turned into a Bridge

After our stop in Prescott, we moved on to Page, AZ. One of the first things we did was to go on the boat trip on Lake Powell to Rainbow Bridge. Our first view was this unusual houseboat.

The weather was kind of gloomy, but the scenery was still spectacular. This is one of my favorites - Gunsight Butte.

Our captain told us that this was an RV on top of this butte, and if you zoom in, it really does look like one.

After a short hike, I got my first view of Rainbow Bridge, one of the largest natural bridges in the world.

The obligatory photo.

Wow! This is actually my third time here, but I am always amazed.

It used to be that they didn't want you to go under the bridge because it is considered sacred. But they have finally built a new trail around it to the back side.

A great idea!

Made it!

I saw several Sego Lilies.

Another view on my way back to the boat.

One last view. The weather is clearing a bit and we can finally see part of snow-covered Navajo Mountain in the background.

Back to the boat.

Navigating out of the side canyon back to Lake Powell.

All of a sudden, the weather cleared up and we had a beautiful 50-mile trip back to Page.

What a fun day!
