Mothers Day with Mark
While at my father's house in PA, I drove down to Northern Virginia to spend Mothers Day weekend with my son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Carisa. Carisa's mom and niece were there too. Mark is quite the chef, and Bailey was a good little helper.
Dinner was chicken with peppers, etc on it, lemon couscous, and an avocado dish. Yummmmmy!
And for dessert - made-from-scratch strawberry cake! I have no clue how Mark got to be such a good cook - certainly not from me...
For Mothers Day brunch, we went to a small unique restaurant in Warrenton. Quite a treat!
Afterwards, we went to one of the many wineries in the area. Hmmmmm - wine and rusty stuff! Does it get any better than this?
It was pretty crowded because it was Mothers Day. They had a nice mud puddle for the kids to play in.
But you better be watching them!
Dogs are allowed there too, even inside the building.
It was pretty chilly and windy, so we didn't stay long, but Mark did take us inside for a wine tasting. Gee, if I could only get him to smile...
(If you want to see pictures of Mark smiling, the post on his 2011 wedding is here)

I think it's cool that you got to spend Mother's Day with your son. Even if he doesn't want to smile for you. Kids!!! That cake looks wonderful. I can no longer see rusty stuff without thinking about you. lol
ReplyDeleteWe visited a winery in New York where the owner's dog is always asleep up on the one end of the bar.
ReplyDeleteMaybe have Mark drink more wine to smile more?
ReplyDeleteNice to be able to spend time with him, he certainly went all out to spoil you, dinner, cake, wine, rusty stuff and a mud puddle to boot! :c)
