More Sights Around Mount Rainier

After our short trip up the mountain, we decided to walk over to a nearby waterfall. No, this isn't it...

Wow! I had to put two pictures together to get the whole thing.

We also went in to see the Paradise Lodge, built out of cedar logs in 1916.

Before leaving the park, we drove over to get a photo at Reflection Lake. It was a little breezy, but we still got a pretty good picture.

On our way out of the park, we stopped at two waterfalls - Christine Falls -

And Narada Falls.

There is sometimes a rainbow at the base of the falls, and we lucked out with the biggest one I've ever seen here.

On the way home, we went through the cute little town of Elbe. Elbe Kirche is one of the smallest churches in the nation, built in 1906 by settlers from Germany.

Near Elbe is a whole lot of RUSTY STUFF!!!

Lots of sculptures built from miscellaneous pieces of metal -

And some of the sculptures were made from pieces of wood.

All in all - a great day!

  2. The pictures of the waterfalls are really fantastic but your picture with the reflecting pool has that WOW factor. And of course we love the rusty stuff.

  4. Now I'm going to have to go back to Ranier since it was fogged in the last time I was there. We did see that rainbow, but it wasn't as clear as yours.

  5. Gorgeous photos of the mountain ... and that panorama waterfall is fantastic. I remember doing a road trip back in 1982 that took us to all those waterfalls ... such great memories.
