You Want Me to Eat WHAT?

Not too far from Longmont, CO is the town of Severance. Guess what they are famous for! These poor bulls give you a hint.

We took a trip to Bruce's Bar, home of the world famous Rocky Mountain Oysters.

I was expecting a plate with a big round ball on it.

But this is what they actually look like.

OUCH!!!

The town of Longmont is beautiful, with views of the Rocky Mts in the distance, and lots of walking paths to enjoy.

There are lots of flowers in town. I don't know what this critter is. Any ideas???

The Moose Lodge where we stayed has a great facility, where we were even able to play volleyball.

And the area is fascinating. I especially liked these trees growing out of silos. Almost as good as rusty stuff!

  1. I laughed when I read this post. Never have, never will. Big ball or not.

  5. The picture is actually of the combo plate - bulls, bison, and turkey. And the taste? They tasted like grease to me...

  7. I think they refer to them as Rocky Mountain Oysters. Hmmm...not for me.

  13. I believe the unidentified critter is some kind of dragon fly. There are many, many different kinds. I think I'll try the oysters some other time.

  14. Gah! I ordered "sweetbread" once upon a time when we were first in the Netherlands. The flavour was OK, but there was definitely a texture issue that didn't really turn my crank. *wuf*
    Won't be eating that again.
    Looked up pizzle.
I'll pass on that too, thanks.

  16. Your "critter" is probably a widow skimmer (dragonfly). I've been shooting dragonflies myself this summer, they're fun to try to get close enough to capture without scaring them off.
