Free Beer !

From our camping spot at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, it was a short drive to the Coors Brewery in Golden, CO. It's the largest single brewery facility in the world.

This kettle was used for brewing in the original Coors brewhouse during the late 1800s and early 1900s. During Prohibition it was used to produce malted milk, and Coors was one of only a handful of breweries that survived Prohibition intact.

Inside there were lots of cute exhibits -

And the gift shop had some interesting items, but I didn't bite.

No, we're not all on the phone. This is the self-guided audio tour.

The modern day brew kettles brew nothing but beer.

Fillers can process 1100-1800 cans per minute!

At the end of the tour, they give you samples of 3 different bears. Even my sister Barbara had some! You could have knocked me over with a feather!

Outside there were lots of Canada Geese swimming in the pond. Gee, I hope they don't use that water to make the beer...

I'm sure you can see what's coming next -

THE END!

  1. That would be a fun tour even though I'm not a beer drinker. 1100 cans per minute means there is a lot of beer being drunk out there every minute.

  2. Wow, that is some size free sample and you got three of them? I hope you had a designated driver or you might have ended up in the pond looking like that Canada goose taking a dive.

I give your last picture an 8.5 in the "The End" competition. :c)

  3. They must have upgraded the tour. When I was there years ago, a guide talked us through the place. She wasn't so good.

  4. Interesting tour. A beer truck overturned on I-5 in Oregon the other day http://www.kval.com/news/local/Beer-truck-overturns-on-interstate-ramp-166142826.html?tab=gallery&c=y&img=5. My son asked for the day off work so he could help with the clean-up (just kidding).

  5. You didn't mention I only drank about half, but I gave it the old college try.
