Historical Journeys in Missoula
One day, Cindy, our host for this stop, took us to the Ninemile Remount Depot and Ranger Station. She arranged for a great private tour.
Horses and mules are raised and boarded here to assist in transporting people and equipment necessary for managing our backcountry.
There is a blacksmith shop here. Apparently, mules really hate for anyone to touch their feet, so that can be a problem.
The Saddle Shop has a huge sewing machine!
We finally got to go outside, and immediately the mules and horses came over to say hello.
Our studs posed in front of the Stud Barn.
But I got distracted by all the Swallow Nests.
We also drove out to an old CCC Camp. There's not much left except for the foundations -
And a really nice chimney.
I'm just loving Missoula!
