Borrego Springs for Thanksgiving
After my stop in Escondido, I made a stop in Indio, where I went to quite a few ukulele jams, but failed to take any pictures. My next move was to the annual Thanksgiving stop in Borrego Springs, CA. We even got some snow on the mountains!
My first hike was up the mountain/hill behind where we are parked.
Every year we go up here to see the big snake, which gets more intricate each year.
And more creatures appear each year. One of these new ones is a Big Horn Sheep.
All around Borrego Springs are beautiful rusty metal sculptures done by artist Ricardo Breceda.
And if you want one for your garden, you can buy one in town.
One day we went out to hike to the Calcite Mine Slot Canyon. Since I was driving, we walked to it instead of taking the scary road.
But the slot canyon is just beautiful, and well worth the hike.
Back in camp we had another gorgeous sunset!

I always enjoy seeing photos of Borrego Springs. So many memories for us. Still remember meeting you at an east bound rest area a few years back. Along I-40 as I recall. First Bloggerfest too I think.
ReplyDeleteYes, Al, I remember meeting you at the rest area. I was so excited when you pulled in! And yes, the first Bloggerfest was great. I was there, but didn't get to talk to you very much - so many bloggers, so little time!
DeleteWhere is the group camping at since the closing of Rock House Road to dry camping?
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Beautiful pictures and that slot Canyon is amazing.
ReplyDeleteGreat memories Diana. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat area, sure would not want to meet a real snake that big:))
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures. Would also like to know where you camped given the changes.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for years, as many others, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteLast summer I was at the Coeur d'Alene Elks and hoped to meet you.
You were off flying around somewhere's...
When I was in the bar some lady kept asking me if I was a Win, I had trouble understanding what she was saying. Later I figured it out, was I a "Win"?..Then I thought of you..
Ah..maybe someday., Keep on posting!
