In the Middle of the Keys at Marathon
After Key West, we spent a couple of days in Marathon at the Jolly Roger RV Park. The weather wasn't the best, so we headed over to the Turtle Hospital. They have THREE ambulances here.
We had a great tour guide, and she explained the main reasons that turtles end up here.
We got to see into the operating room on a TV.
This turtle got bit by a shark.
And this one has "Bubble Butt Syndrome," caused by encounters with motor boats.
A lot of them have tumors that need to be removed, caused by impurities in the water.
Most are in group pools, but some are in individual ones for various reasons.
Afterwards, we headed over to Curry Hammock State Park to see the kite boarders. It was a really windy day, so perfect for them.
They lift off and do some fancy turns, trying not to run into each other or the birds.
Jolly Roger was a great park right on the water, with the usual shore birds around.
All in all, it was a great time in the Keys!

We didn't make it to the turtle hospital. Wish we would have done that. Love your pelican pic. And I have no idea where you're at now so I'm hoping you're safe.
