One of the classic views in Yellowstone NP is the Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River.
The photography book I had said to get there at 9:45 AM to see the rainbow. Although I didn't plan it, that's when I got there.
The rainbow changed colors several times.
To get a close-up view of the falls, we went down Uncle Tom's trail, 328 steps down about 3/4 of the way into the canyon.
It's a great view of both the falls -
And the rainbow. OK - now where's the elevator back up?

After stumbling up the 328 steps, we went to a view of the Upper Falls.
Then on the way back to the campground, we stopped and walked the trails of the Norris Geyser Basin.
The highlight here is Emerald Spring, but there is a lot more to see.
There are 300 geysers in Yellowstone. Some are fairly regular, and some are not, but Constant Geyser is just that - constant!
Yet another waterfall - Gibbon Falls - on the way home.
And another big guy walking along the road!

ReplyDeleteThis is one of our favorite areas!! We went to the falls with Mike's mom and dad years ago but didn't do the steps. When we return we need to do this and experience the falls totally!!

ReplyDeleteYellowstone is just about my favorite place in the country. I think I could get down those steps, but getting back up would take me a long time with this new hip. ;)
