I'm so proud of myself! I'm on the top of Mt Evans at 14265'. It was a long climb.
A whole 135'! Wow, it was tough - the air is pretty thin up here. (Even this photo looks tougher than it was - there is a nice trail. You don't have to rock climb.)
The big attraction up here is not the mountain, but the mountain goats.
There was a long line at the restrooms.
Are you my Mommy?
The Mommies were in the process of shedding.
"What are you looking at? I'll be pretty again in a week or so!"
There are beautiful lakes; this one was near the top of the mountain.
We also saw Bighorn Sheep, although they blend in with the rocks.
Don't worry, this is not "The End." I have lots more to say... (I took 200 pictures on this trip.)
The ride down was a little scary because we were on the outside edge. I don't know what's holding that cone up!
On the way down, we saw Summit Lake -
Where there is a short hike to an overlook of the Chicago Lakes.
And further down is a short walk to an area of Bristlecone pines. What a great day!
I know what you mean about scary drive--I did it on a Harley. Lots of blind switchbacks and goats in the road!

ReplyDeleteWonderful Pictures! That outer edge would cause a greater lack of oxygen for me than the altitude - I wonder what shade of blue I would have turned by the time we were away from edges like that :)

ReplyDeleteThat is amaqzing that they built those restrooms for the mountain goats. Even more amazing is they stand in line waiting to use them.

I don't know, Diana, those lakes don't look anything like Chicago to me! What fun to see the baby goats, were they waiting in line too or are they not toilet trained yet?
