More Beautiful Sedona
One hike I have never tried before is the one up to the saddle of Cathedral Rock. It's a pretty steep trail, but I was doing okay until -
You are supposed to climb up the steep crack on the left. I figured I'd done enough. I may have been able to get up, but would have had to come down.
The rock was very sandy and slippery, and I ended up sliding down on my butt quite a bit.
The flowers are really starting to bloom here.
If you don't want to climb up Cathedral Rock, the Templeton trail goes along the base, where you get an unusual view of the back side.
Another day, the group went to see the famous front view of Cathedral Rock.
Looks like Phil and his harem, huh?
Another day we went on my favorite Sedona hike, the Teacup trail. Even the view from the trailhead is gorgeous.
Along the way I found a century plant about to bloom in a month or so.
And we had to stop by Bell Rock, one of Sedona's famous vortexes.
Supposedly, that is why so many of the trees are twisted like this. (wink, wink)

I didn't know Bell Rock was a vortex - thanks! It's big enough for a bunch of us to get 'texed at once. I'll take Dramamine.

I think your sense of humor got a little more twisted in that vortex. ;c)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful area to hike, even if it requires a little butt sliding time.
I've never seen anything like that before!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of Sedona and the red rocks. It's certainly one of our favourite spots in the southwest.
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures from Sedona.
ReplyDeleteSo are those alien contrails I see above Bell Rock? Make sure you're not on it if it decided to take off into space like it was supposed to do some years ago :-)))
ReplyDeleteSo what's with the weird curlycues above the rock? Is that the vortex?
ReplyDeleteIts certainly is beautiful and full of contrasts. Lots of photo opportunities I bet.
ReplyDeleteSedona is still on my list of 'to do's". I've been there, but never parked there and have never hiked there.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog several weeks ago and went back to the beginning to read all your posts and see all your beautiful photos. Really enjoy your writins and your pics. We are planning on fulltiming in about two years, and until then we try to travel as much as we can in our little travel trailer. I've been researching good travel cameras. My husband has a Canon Rebel Ti3, but I want something I can stick in my pocket or fanny pack. Was wondering what you thought of the Canon Powershot SX260 HS? Have you looked at it? I'd love to get your opinion.
Looking forward to reading more of your terrific blog entries. Travel safe. --Terie
Gaelyn - believe that and I'll tell you another one!
ReplyDeleteTerie - Even though I haven't used an SX260, I think it is the very best choice at this time. I have 3 friends who have it and they love it.
