Back to the Real World

After our wonderful cruise, it was back to the RV park in Prescott for a few more days. As I mentioned before, it is located right in the middle Prescott's Granite Dells. This is the view out my window.

We had flown out of Phoenix on our way to Tahiti, and while there I was able to see what happens to saguaro blooms after they are done blooming.

The seed pod is bright red (!) and the birds just love them.

Back in Prescott, I have a new friend, who likes to hide under my black water tank.

And this pair of house finches liked the drippy faucet next door.

We frequented the local Moose lodge for weekly dance lessons, and dancing and food on Friday nights. All the Moose lodges have moose heads, but this was the biggest one I've ever seen.

On the Fourth of July, we heard that you could see the fireworks by climbing the rock hill behind us. So at twilight, we went scouting.

Here's Phil trying to figure out which direction the fireworks will be.

It turned out to be a great spot. The "fireworks" setting on my Canon camera worked perfectly. I think I must be the very last blogger to report on the Fourth!

  2. Arizona is so darn beautiful. You're lucky you live there, and these photos are great. I love cacti, paticularly when they flower, or get blossoms, whatever it is called. :-)

  4. Welcome home. It looks like you had a great trip.

We were starting to worry that you might pull a "Mutiny on the Bounty" on your cruise ship!

  7. I've been following your blog for some time now, but never posted a comment before. I loved every minute of the virtual tour to Tahiti! Thanks for sharing all the wonderful photos and videos!

I am just wondering if the Canon that took the fireworks shot was the same blue waterproof camera that was featured at the top of the Tahiti posts? I am in the market for a water resistant digital, and that one sure did look like a nice one. I would love to know how you liked it...

  8. Suzanne - I have a total of 5 (!)Canon cameras. The Canon I took the fireworks photo with was the SD4500is. But the underwater Canon D10 also has a fireworks setting. All the point-and-shoot Canons are great except the very cheapest.

  14. Hope you're enjoying being back. I'm seeing "thirds" in your compositions. You were right, you were doing it before the lesson. That is a nice camera/bait, what ever you call it! I can't beleive it can capture fireworks--very nicely.too.
You like animal stories... A Robin build a nest in wires on the back of my house. When I was gone my neighbor found a baby on the ground and noticed the nest was falling apart. He got out his ladder and put a little woven basket up with some original nest in it and they resumed the household without a hitch. Didn't know they would do that, but don't ya love it.
