Hawaiian Beaches and More Wildlife
We took a drive along the south coast of Kauai to check out some beaches. Most are not too inviting for swimming or snorkeling. This was near the Spouting Horn.
And this is the Spouting Horn itself.
We stopped at Shipwreck Beach. I was hoping to see a shipwreck, but apparently it's long gone.
We walked up to the top of the cliff. Apparently if you are really crazy, you can jump off here. Justin Bieber did in 2013, and he survived, but I think I'll pass.
No shipwrecks, but we did see a very nice heart.
And this guy tried to sell me some insurance - again.
We then went on to Poipu Beach, which is an excellent swimming/snorkeling beach.
I saw lots of different fish here.
We had lunch at McDonald's. Apparently, this is where Ronald hangs out. He said he came to Hawaii to work on his tan. I think he's got a long way to go.
We also stopped at Glass Beach, where this crab was checking us out.
Glass Beach consists of millions of tiny pieces of glass, washed in from broken bottles and auto glass. There used to be an old dump near here. I was hoping for some rusty stuff too, but the glass was just beautiful.
When we got back "home," we found a guy on our balcony. Glad I locked the door. But they were just painting, and were soon done.
Glass beach looked really great.
ReplyDeleteThis sure makes me want to return to Hawaii!
ReplyDeleteDidn't realize Ronald was so tall. Must be all those chicken nuggets he ate that gave him the height... ;c)
ReplyDeleteLove the fish!! Great colors on 'em...and the beach glass is fun to collect..it looks great in Ball Jars.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the survival... sorry, couldn't resist.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
LOL about the insurance and Ronald. Can't remember the last time I was in McDonald's so I'm glad to see he's doing well. :-) Is Spouting Horn a geyser right there on the shore? I think I might be able to take a dip at shipwreck beach if the water is warm. Just gorgeous pictures of the water and the fish. You didn't get those from the shore did you? If so WOW!
