Hanging Out in Brookings
I moved up the coast a bit to stay at a beautiful Elks Lodge. It's a short drive to the beach from there.
A great place to go for a stroll -
And admire the little caves that people have built.
Walking Whaleshead Beach, I stumbled upon a real whale head (and body)!
Also found a deceased Ray.
Back at my campsite, there was some live fauna and flora to admire.
Cute!
But the highlight was watching the Osprey nest high above us. They were quite vocal!
The young ones were almost ready to fledge.
Very fun to watch - I must have taken a couple hundred pictures of them!

Moving Up the Coast a Bit
After Crescent City, I moved up the coast just a little bit, to Smith River, in the Northwest corner of California.
I stayed at the Lucky 7 Casino, within walking distance of the beach.
Just gorgeous!
On the way to the trail down to the beach was a beautiful Tribal Cemetery.
I think the wind blows here a bit...
This must be the party place for the seagulls.
There were some beautiful flowers around -
WOW!

Hightailing It to the Coast
Returning from Ecuador, I drove from my daughter's in San Diego to where my RV was in Provo, Utah. But it was really hot there, so I hightailed it over to the Pacific Ocean, arriving in Crescent City, CA 2 days later.
The next day, I went to see the local lighthouse, Battery Point. Make sure you get here at low tide, or you would have to swim over...
I didn't stay in Crescent City very long, but I did go on a hike in Jedidiah Smith State Park on the Boy Scout Tree Trail.
The Redwood trees there are huge, and very interesting.
I had to do a panorama shot to get a photo of one.
Some of the fallen ones could be walked on -
And some needed some Limbo to get under!
