Our Final Days in San Felipe
One of our group activities was to plant the 30 trees that we bought to donate to the town. They have an ongoing program of tree planting, and have a crew that goes around and waters them.
Rosemary and Mara were the only ones in the group that I knew before I got here, and now I have a lot of new friends!
Can't say that I am friends with all these participants, but I got to know quite a few.
After the tree planting, we had lunch in town at Rosita's.
There was a Carnaval going on in town during our last weekend there.
There was live music on the Malecon -
And there was supposed to be a parade at 2:00, but more like 5:00 Mexico time. I gave up waiting for it, but did get to see some of the floats.
Some of our group with excellent seats at a restaurant, waiting for the parade.
I did get to meet some of the past princes and princesses.
On the morning of our departure, we had to get up early, so I finally got to see a sunrise.
At 8:00, we took off in our caravan of 46 rigs.
Once again, we had a police escort through Mexicali, and got to go through stop signs and red lights.
Nearing the border, we went by an unusual sculpture.
After a very long wait at the border (we were near the end of the 46-rig caravan), we finally made it across the border!
It was a fun trip, and I would do it again.
Were did you plant the trees? We'll be there tomorrow and I can check on them. Glad you had a fun trip, escort thru Mexicali was great foresight it's getting to be a B.&.*.#.@.
ReplyDeleteI really can't tell you where. I wasn't paying attention. But heard some were stolen, and some didn't get enough light, but the rest are good...
DeleteHopefully the rest of the trees will stay where they were planted for future generations.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your time with the group.
Be Safe!
It's about time.
