Blue Spring SP, Part II
The very first thing we did in the park was to go on the St. Johns River Cruise in the park.
Leaving the dock, we immediately saw 2 bald eagles. We were really far away, but I still got a pretty good shot. I just love my camera! To check it out, click on this link:

We saw lots of Ibis in the trees, and -
WHOA! What's this? There's something scary under all that greenery!
We also saw quite a few Anhinga, aka the "Piano Bird."
And another alligator, who was staring us down.
On another day, we went to the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse.
Outside was an interesting exhibit on recent Cuban refugee rafts. It's unbelievable the things they cross the water in.
We climbed to the top of the lighthouse, which is Florida's tallest - 203 steps!
In 1933, the lighthouse was electrified by a 500-watt bulb, and the first order lens was downgraded to a third order lens.
The view from the top is spectacular in all directions!
We went kayaking again later in the week, this time on the St. Johns River. We paddled by a tree filled with Ibis.
Whoa! Look at them all!
A close up.
We also met up with the WINs at Millennium RV for a great tour. Unfortunately, none of us were willing to part with the $2.3 million or so necessary to buy one...
2.3 mil? You're going to have to learn to loosen the purse strings a little.. I mean, why be so stingy? You have to admit that's a really nice paint job!
ReplyDeleteCome on! With all the money you've saved over the years boondocking, you could buy a couple of those Millennium RVs... :cD
