This Canon PowerShot SD4500is has been my favorite camera since I got it 2 years ago. It has a really sharp 10X optical zoom. I used it to get the shot of the woodpecker out my window in the previous post.
When I got mine originally, it cost $350. Now you can get it on Amazon for $124. The link is
here or go to Amazon and search for "Canon 4500 silver." (Mine is brown but for some reason the silver is less expensive.)
If you're looking for a new point-and-shoot, I highly recommend it.
Great Diana thanks so much for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up, Diana! I, too, loved my Canon! It was about 8 years old when it died and I replaced it with a sony, which I barely use. heading over to amazon, now!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great buy! We have used Canons for years and think they are among the best.
ReplyDeleteI have a Canon Ixus 4 mp, which shows how old it is, and it refuses to die. It still takes great shots and I take it with me on cycle rides so it doesnt get the kindest of treatment. Canon make good cameras.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this link! We have been using a Canon Elph since we started fulltiming, and love everything about it EXCEPT the zoom. Now I can have the same camera but with a great zoom. I have ordered one through your link.
ReplyDeleteI wanted a camera with a better zoom but didn't want to give up my beloved Elph -- now I can have both!
Any info on the warranty etc? Thanks , Jack
ReplyDeleteIt comes with a 1-year limited warranty. Let me make it clear that I am not getting anything from pushing this camera - I just like it so much I bought a spare!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great deal Diana. I bought a pocket Minolta about 9 yrs ago and its still going strong!!
ReplyDeleteI actually bought this camera about a year ago ($150 on Amazon at that time) but then recently gave it to a neighbor. I found the colors to be too "bright" and unrealistic. I'm probably just spoiled from my Canon DSLR...I decided it was worth carrying it and the extra lenses around to get the more true to life photos. If I can find a pocket camera that takes shots like my DSLR I'll make another purchase!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing been looking for a new camera!
ReplyDeletePam and Wayne, there are lots of ways to adjust the color and brightness if you don't like the way your pictures are coming out. I NEVER take pictures on Auto, and will do a post soon on how I adjust my cameras to my liking.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to think of a million ways to say thank you. I'll try this: Thank you x infinity! I look forward to the post on your setting adjustments. :)
ReplyDeleteI am afraid that without a viewfinder it is not something I can use. But I am definitely a Canon fan.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog

ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and Phil. We aren't doing anything for Thanksgiving this year, I caught the first cold that I have had in at least three or four years so I am staying away from everybody. I have posted on our "Wandering Duo" Blog twice this week. Maybe there is hope for me! You, Barb and Diane in NY are probably the only people who read it. I'm not even sure your dad reads it. Love you ! Enjoy the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diana, it looks like a great deal on that camera, but we are looking for a little longer zoom. Too many decisions!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great deal on the camera. I also have a Canon Point & Shoot. I like to use my pone for quick an simple uploading onto Facebook and for recording infomration I need to act upon but I reserve my camera for serious photos and for my blogs. Still gaining confidence in turning the auto off... it is scary but occassionaly I get some fantastic shots! Depends how much time I invest to play around with it! :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds good. The cameras I have used over the past few years start out terrific, and then somehow grind to a halt, literally. I don't usually keep them more than a year, but maybe that's my fault.
