Off to the Races!

Yippee! It's time for the 2 NASCAR races held in Richmond this weekend. For those that are interested in attending a NASCAR race, here's a tip - do not buy your tickets ahead of time. You can get better seats cheaper by buying them from individuals selling them around the track.

On Friday, we got seats right behind the Start/Finish line for the Nationwide race, the "Bubba Burger 250."

Do you think they have enough tires???

And they're off! Since these were evening races, it was too dark later to get any good pictures.

The eventual winner was Brad Keselowski, not exactly a crowd favorite. (Picture courtesy of nascar.com)

On Saturday before the big Sprint Cup race, we walked around the outside of the stadium, where there are alot of vendors, plus the broadcasting team from Speed, including Kyle Petty(C) and Kenny Wallace(R).

Now, who should I root for? I think Kasey Kahne is awfully cute, but I REALLY like Reese's Peanut Butter cups!

Before the race, the drivers got driven around the track by members of the local Corvette Club. This is Dale Earnhardt Jr, a crowd favorite.

The pole position was won by Kyle Busch. Here he's autographing his hat for his driver - what a nice guy!

Time for the flag to come out of the sky!

And the jets to fly over at the end of the National Anthem.

And of course, the fireworks.

The DirecTV blimp is here.

Again, all I got a good picture of was the start of the race. Kyle Busch dominated the race, passing car after car, and eventually winning a rather boring race.

For this race, we had seats coming out of turn 4, right in front of the pits.

The eventually winner, "nice-guy" Kyle Busch. (Again, photo courtesy of nascar.com)

  1. Well, I like M&Ms. You're really getting into this sport. I think one race would be enough for me.
